A Glimmer of Hope

Specific phobia involves marked and persistent fear and avoidance of a specific object or situation.  Approximately 19.2 million American adults age 18 and over, or about 8.7 percent of people in this age group in a given year, have some type of specific phobia.*

Soo tired tonight.  Just woke up from a mini-nap the cause of which was that I had a whole glass of champagne and it was quite a bit.  I'm glad I've moderated my drinking enough for my tolerance to change like that.  I was really efficient today and felt the most like a normal person than I've felt in awhile.

Also, I did not get fired!  After a long talk with my employer, we agreed that I will start looking for a new job and she will start looking for my replacement.  This works nicely for both of us.  No abrupt end to my meager income and no chaos in a lack of assistance for her.

My mini-interview went well today.  It was what they called a "meet and greet" that was just five minutes long.  I wasn't expecting to stay at work until 2 today and my appointment was for 2:20 in Boulder, so of course, I was late.  I apologized profusely, and then wowed them with my personality and knowledge of how an executive suites building works.  I have been invited back for a more extensive interview this coming Tuesday afternoon, so we'll see how that goes, but I plan on being nothing less than completely awesome.

And so it's off to bed with me.  Tonight, as I fall asleep, I will be thinking about the book I've decided to write, entitled "My Sister the Sociopath."  I estimate several weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and millions of dollars.   She'll get 10%.

  1. 10% huh? That just encourages her NOT to take care of herself...

  2. Yeah, at this point she doesn't know that I'd even be offering her 10%, but it doesn't matter, she's not going to take care of herself or change in any way.

  3. I love it!!! A book of sociopaths would be awesome!!!!!!!!

Also, in terms of your quote, I SUFFER from a specific phobia. I know it's silly but it's of booths. Yes, I'm afraid of booths. Seriously. And I’ve been working on figuring it out and I’ve decided it's a fear of not being able to escape/claustrophobia. And, of also being unexpectedly touched by something cold and unwelcoming without my permission.

I think all phobias have a source and reason behind them.
